Books have long been featured within still life painting, by many, many artists. The authour, Hermmen Hesse wrote a work of fiction, The Glass Bead Game, in which a future post utopian society valued, above all, a game.

  This game is the culmination and combination of mans' cultural endeavours; language history, math and music. The description of this game reminded me of the thought process that lead to the creation of this painting, a convergance of ideas.
